KEYS

CHORDS

*OK, I know some of these chords for a beginner can be a bit tricky

1st - let us look first at the F Major chord.  You can substitute quite often with an F Major 7 chord, you should already know this from doing the module - ‘Complete Beginners Guitar Lessons’ that was mentioned on Page 1 - 2a

2nd - The chord of B7 in the Key of E.

Usually any V Type chord can be a Major or a 7th chord, however for a beginner a B Major chord can be hard so substitute with a B7 instead.  See Diagram below

For an explanation of the chord diagram us this Link  and read the Introduction in the Chord Book

Use the chord book to look up for yourself the chords of Bminor, F#minor and Dbminor

3 - OK - So the whole point to all this is if you know your basic chords in the Keys above you will be able to play along to thousands of songs

Always practice your chord changes so you can change from one chord to another without a pause, this is essential, because if your chord hand is not comfortable with the chords and changing from one chord to another in time, your strumming or picking hand is not going to work very well

4 - Chords that work well together in any Key are known as Scale Chords

For more information on this use this Link here.  Take your time and have a good read of this

5 - For more information on knowing how to play any song in a different Key, this is known as Transposing

Now I have a Transposing Slide Rule to help you to find what the chords for any song in a different Key would be.  Read and study the HELP section thoroughly

The Link for the Transposing Slide Rule

NOTE:

Now remember, if your chords are rubbish, your playing will be rubbish.  Having said that though, do not beat yourself up because it may not happen for you quickly.  For some people they might find all these chords really easy to play perfectly, but for most beginners it can take quite a long time.

This is not a race, just practice a little bit every day or as often as you can, the key here is repetition

Now when you are ready, lets carry on
